Creating a Legacy
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.”
What will your legacy be?
Through your Will you can create an enduring legacy of love, hope and encouragement.
It’s heartbreaking when those we support have to choose between obtaining affordable accommodation, paying for electricity, petrol, food, and clothing for their children, including school uniforms and purchasing school supplies.
Our city’s most vulnerable need emergency food, accommodation, support with managing serious mental health issues alongside drug and alcohol addictions.
The love, hope, encouragement and relief we provide to people who come to us, cannot be achieved without the help of those who support us.
No matter the size of the gift, your bequest is a powerful way to ensure your legacy creates a brighter future for the wider Canterbury community.
After ensuring your family, friends and others are cared for, you have the opportunity to leave a lasting gift to change the lives of many – a fitting way for your kindness to live on.
How will my bequest help?
For more than 95 years, the Christchurch City Mission has been tackling the issues impacting people of Canterbury – like mental health, addiction, financial issues, needing resources such as food, school supplies, clothing and combating social isolation.
A bequest provides the Mission with certainty into the future, and means our vital services and support programmes can continue to be available to anyone in need in the Canterbury community.
Leaving a gift in your Will doesn't have to be complicated
There are different ways you can make a gift in your Will. To make it easier, we've put together a bequest brochure which you can download below.
As you consider including the Christchurch City Mission in your Will, you may find it helpful to consider the following:
When considering a bequest we encourage you to first take care of family and loved ones
If you don’t have a Will, we respectfully suggest you to contact your legal advisor to ensure your wishes are correctly and legally stated
If you already have a Will, including a bequest to the Christchurch City Mission is straight forward. Simply ask your legal advisor to add a codicil to your existing Will
Your gift can be made in several ways – a specified amount of money, a percentage of the residue value of your estate, or of a particular item(s) such as property
No gift is too small and you can be assured that it will be used wisely to benefit future generations of the Canterbury community
We’re so grateful that you’re considering leaving a gift to Christchurch City Mission in your Will.
